Base Confidence
Clear guidance. Confident decisions.
You don’t need to memorize every base or every detail to use them confidently.
Glitzy Glitter Express bases were created to be consistent, flexible, and maker-friendly. Once you understand the fundamentals, everything else becomes easier — and far less intimidating.
This page is here to give you that foundation.
Confidence comes from understanding the foundation — not memorizing every detail.
Let’s set the tone
If you’ve ever thought:
“What if I mess this up?”
“Why does this look different than someone else’s?”
“Am I using too much… or not enough?”
Pause right there.
You are not behind.
You are not doing it wrong.
And you are not expected to have everything figured out before you begin.
Confidence with bases comes from understanding patterns, not chasing perfection.
How to Think About Our Bases
Most GGE liquid bases share the same core principles:
- They are ready-to-use
- They are designed to accept fragrance within a safe range
- They perform best when kept simple
- Consistency matters more than pushing limits
You don’t need to reinvent the formula. You just need to work with it.
That’s where confidence comes from.
Simple, consistent decisions create the strongest results.
You don’t need to overdo it to do it well.
Fragrance Load Confidence
Every base includes a recommended fragrance load range and here’s the guidance:
Start in the middle of the recommended range.
Mid-range fragrance loads:
Are more stable, easier to repeat & will reduce separation and cloudiness
Using the maximum fragrance load is not required to make a high-quality, sellable product.
More oil does not automatically mean better performance.
Mid-range decisions are confident decisions.
Stability, repeatability, and clarity always win.
“I Think I Added Too Much Oil” What Now?
First: take a breath. This happens more often than you think.:
If too much fragrance oil is added, the batch may appear cloudy, separate, or feel unstable. This does not automatically mean it’s ruined.
If the fragrance percentage exceeds the recommended or IFRA limit, the product can often be corrected by adding additional unscented base until the fragrance percentage falls back within range.
If you’re unsure how much base to add, use the fragrance calculator to determine the correct amount needed.
Mistakes don’t disqualify you — they educate you.
A learning batch is still progress.
Skill is built through experience, not perfection.
Not Sure How to Calculate Fragrance Oil Weight?
You are not expected to guess. We provide a fragrance calculator to help you:
- Convert percentages into accurate weights
- Avoid over or under fragrance
- Feel confident before you pour
Use the calculator anytime you’re unsure.
Smart tools are part of confident making. Guessing is optional. Support is built in.
Understanding IFRA (And Why It Matters)
IFRA guidelines are not about restriction, they’re about professionalism, safety, and confidence.
IFRA (International Fragrance Association) provides usage guidelines to ensure fragrance oils are used safely across different product types, including body care, home fragrance, and cleaning products.
You don’t need to memorize charts.
You need to understand why limits exist and how to use them confidently.
Why IFRA Is Important
Following IFRA guidelines helps you:
- Create products that are safe for intended use
- Protect your customers and your brand
- Build trust and credibility as a professional maker
- Grow confidently without unnecessary risk
This is part of building something sustainable.
IFRA + GGE Bases — What to Know
Here’s the key distinction:
- Your base may allow a certain fragrance load
- Your fragrance oil’s IFRA category may allow less
When this happens, the lower limit always wins. That’s not a mistake, it’s a professional standard.
How to Use IFRA Without Overthinking It
Use IFRA to:
Confirm your fragrance is appropriate for the product type
Identify the maximum safe usage
Feel confident standing behind what you sell
Think of IFRA as decision support, not limitation.
IFRA + Calculators = Confidence
Once you know your IFRA limit, use the fragrance calculator to: convert percentages into weights, avoid accidental overuse & create repeatable, compliant batches
Systems reduce stress.
Confident makers use systems.
Following IFRA is a power move.
It protects your customers, your business, and your confidence.
Cloudiness, Separation & “Is This Normal?”
Often yes.
These changes can be caused by:
- Fragrance choice
- Temperature shifts
- Add ins like mica or colorants
- Overmixing
They do not automatically mean failure.
Pause before panic.
Many issues resolve with time, not intervention.
Resting Is Part of the Process
Some bases benefit from:
- Allowing bubbles to settle
- Giving fragrance time to fully integrate
- Letting the formula normalize
Immediate results are not always final results. Patience builds clarity.
Test Smart, Not Stressed
When trying something new:
- Test small
- Change one variable at a time
- Label everything
Low-pressure testing builds confidence quickly and saves product.
You are building skill, not chasing perfection.
Confidence compounds with every batch you make.
