Base Hacks

Quick fixes, smart shortcuts, and confidence-saving moves.

This page is for the moments when something feels off and you don’t need an explanation you need to know what to do next.

These hacks apply across most GGE liquid bases and are designed to help you move forward calmly and confidently.

If you want the why, start with Base Confidence.
If you want fast clarity, you’re in the right place.

Fix It Fast

Start here if something feels wrong.

Added too much fragrance oil?
→ Add unscented base to bring the fragrance percentage back into range. Use the fragrance calculator to determine how much base to add.

Looks cloudy?
→ Let it rest. Don’t add anything immediately.

Separated?
→ Gently remix and allow time to settle.

Mica settled?
→ Normal behavior. Shake before use and label “Shake to Activate.”

Fix-It-Fast Hacks (Panic Mode)

I Added Too Much Fragrance Oil

This happens and it does not automatically mean the batch is ruined.

Do this:

If the fragrance percentage exceeds the recommended or IFRA limit, add additional unscented base to bring the percentage back into range

Use the fragrance calculator to calculate the correct dilution

Allow the batch to rest before making further changes

Learning batches build skill.

It Looks Cloudy

Cloudiness is often temporary.

First let the product rest & avoid adding anything immediately. Recheck after settling.

Most cloudiness resolves on its own.

It Separated

Separation does not automatically mean failure.

Try gently remixing and allow time to rest. Confirm fragrance compatibility

Separation ≠ ruined.

Universal Process Hacks

Start in the Middle

If a fragrance load range is listed, start in the middle.

Why it works: Better stability, easier repeatability and less troubleshooting

Maximum fragrance load is not required for quality.

One Change at a Time

If something feels off, change one variable only.

Do not adjust fragrance, percentage, additives, and mixing method all at once.
Control creates clarity.

Stop Overmixing

Overmixing can introduce bubbles, cause cloudiness & create unnecessary doubt

Mix until uniform. Then stop.

Multi-Use & Product Unlock Hacks

4oz Bottles = Car Spray

Room spray is car spray, it’s simply labeled and packaged for vehicle use.

Best practice:

Use smaller bottles (4oz works great)

Label clearly for intended use

 Educate customers on proper use

Same base. Same formula. New product category.

Hair & Body Shimmer

Hair & body shimmer can be created using body mist base + mica or mica flakes.

What to know:

Mica will naturally settle this is expected behavior

Best practice:

Use a small amount of mica

Make sure the mica is cosmetic grade (GGE mica is cosmetic grade)

Shake before use

Market as “Shake to Activate” This is physics, not failure.

One Base, Multiple Labels

The same finished product can often support multiple product names when labeled correctly.

Examples:

Room Spray → Car Spray

Body Mist → Hair & Body Shimmer

Linen Spray → Fabric Freshener

This is strategic positioning not cutting corners.

Add-In & Customization Hacks

Less Color Performs Better

Too much colorant or mica can affect clarity and stability.

Best practice: Start with very small amounts & build gradually

 Shake Is a Feature

If a product needs shaking label it confidently & market it intentionally

“Shake to Activate” is a feature, not a flaw.

Measurement & Calculation Hacks

Don’t Guess, Calculate

If you’re unsure about fragrance percentage, oil weight, or dilution amounts, use the fragrance calculator.

Confident makers rely on systems not guesswork.

Label Every Test Batch

Always include the fragrance name, percentage used and date.

Future you will thank you.

Confidence & Profit Hacks

One Batch, Multiple SKUs

A single batch can often be bottled into multiple sizes & sold as multiple product types

This reduces waste, increases margins, and simplifies production.

Education Sells Better Than Strength

Customers trust: clarity, consistency & professional explanation

You don’t need the strongest scent, you need the clearest messaging.

Mindset Hacks (These Matter)

Stop Comparing

Different results happen because fragrances, environments, and techniques vary.

Your process is valid.

Trust the Base

GGE bases are designed to work.

If you followed the guidelines, trust yourself — don’t assume failure first.
